Why Drinking Chocolate?
I love sharing the beauty of premium drinking chocolate with friends. It has such a fascinating history. The word chocolate originally meant 'drinking chocolate together.' This 'Elixir of The Life' has been considered sacred and medicinal for over 4000 years, and it has been consumed in liquid form with added spices. Chocolate was turned into bar form during the Industrial Revolution when it was mass-produced, and the quality suffered. The value of the chocolate was in the cocoa butter, which has often been extracted to the point that your average store-bought cocoa powder is more like chocolate sawdust. So, understanding how to identify great chocolate and studying chocolate from around the world, I've created four exceptional varieties based on my favorite Mesoamerican traditional drinking chocolate, from our Artisan Classic to our tingly Aztec Spice. We offer 3-ounce bags of this granulated treat and our drinking chocolate 'tools.' We source arguably the best cacao in the world, and our rich, dark treasure is 22% to 24% cocoa butter. The cacao tree is called Theobromine Cacao, which means 'Food of the Gods.' The truth is in the tasting.
This is why I am excited to share drinking chocolate with you. I'm convinced that the most exciting people are fans of drinking chocolate. Everyone has a story about chocolate, from their travels or their childhood.
I look forward to contributing and learning from this engaging, chocolate-loving community.

P.S. The company was named after the 200 year old tree in my backyard and after the mysterious cacao tree, which only grows within about 20 miles of the equator. Here I am with a 1800 year old Sequoia Tree in California.
